I went on an art deco tour of downtown Los Angeles recently. This is the elevator lobby of the Southern California Edison building, an ornate little beauty built in 1931. I probably could have spent 15 minutes taking shots of this lobby but we only had moments to spend in any one spot. I went with a very symmetrical view. I dodged the lower portion of the image to even out the exposure. This is not an HDR.

One of the CalTrans’ greatest acheivements, the immense Sadao S. Munemori Memorial Interchange near LAX is a testament to the power of the automobile in Southern California. Here, the San Deigo and Century freeways meet in a cacophony of bridges and tunnels. The interchange has been celebrated in film and literature.
